Talvivaara Mining Company Plc ("Talvivaara") has received the attached flagging notification in accordance with Chapter 2, Section 9 of the Finnish Securities Market Act from Standard Life Investments Ltd. regarding the shares of Talvivaara on 2 June 2009.

The holdings of Standard Life Investments Ltd. have fallen below 5% (to 4,997%). After the change, Standard Life Investments Ltd. holds in aggregate 11,138,967 ordinary shares of Talvivaara.
